Rip Stop
To improve the
durability of your rug ripstop material is used to limit and minimise the extent of any tear. Embedded in the material
is a tough ripstop thread that can be seen as a checkerboard effect in the material. |
 |
Denier
The denier rating of a rug is a measure of the size of the thread used in the manufacture of the outher material.
A larger denier thread provides a thicker, stronger and more durable rug. Generally a 600 denier material is suitable
for most purposes however we would reccomend 1200 denier or 1600 denier where you need heavy duty performance. Some horses are
particulary hard on rugs and the condition of fencing and yards can also impact on rug life and should be considered when
you select the denier rating of the rug.

Waterproof
The water proof performance of the rug is a very important. Our rugs are provide the highest level of waterproof performance
through the use of materials especially designed and treated for this requirement. With good care of your rug the waterproof performance
will be maintained for many seasons.

 |
Taped Seams
No matter how good the material if the location of joins are not well designed and manufactured then the waterproof
properties of your rug will be compromised. Our designs avoid a back seam and all seams are heat tape sealed on the inside
as part of the manufacturing process to provide maximum joint water tightness. Importantly taped seams also reduce rubbing on
your horse.

Breath Thru
It is essential that the horse's skin can breath through the rug to shed sweat and moisture and avoid cold and clammy conditions for the
horse as it heats up and cools down. Our outer rug materials are specially designed to remove moisture and evaporate through the material
to the outside air. This is achieved with a special internal coating of a hydrophilic compound that draws
moisture away from the horse and allows the vapour to pass through the material. |
 |
Poly Fill
Our padded rugs use a full 300g polly fill material to insulate your horse from the cold and keep the heat inside. This
material is especially light and not bulky, making handling easy, but has a high thermodynamic rating for good insulation
performance. In this way we achieve a rug that is light and easy to handle, sits lightly on your horse but keeps your horse
warm and cosy. |
 |
Light Weight
The materials in our rugs provide excellent performance but without the bulk and weight of other types of rug. This is a big advantage
in helping you handle rugs and rug your horses with easy. It is also a major benefit to the horse as it is not impeded by
a heavy uncomfortable rug. Light rugs can significantly reduce problems with rugs rubbing your horse.
